Greetings From the President Happy New Year! The New Year brings exciting news for our Virginia Beach Reading Council. We would like to recognize those individuals that recently received Reading Council Awards. The James D. Mullins award is given to an administrator that exemifies exceptional support of reading in their school. Janet Zitt, principal of Bayside Elementary was selected to represent our Virginia Beach Reading Council for 2008-2009. Another enthusiastic person making headlines in the news is Mary Ellen Trivette; a third grade teacher from Indian Lakes Elementary School who was selected as Virginia Beach Reading Teacher of the Year 2008-2009. We wish both of these ladies the very best as their applications were sent to the Virginia State Reading Association. I hope that many of you were able to attend the fall Conference on November 17th. The presenters were spectular and offered beneficial strategies to attendees.
